This sermon Pastor Marcus describes how our church is a House of Refuge protecting the sanctity of life with compassion, humility and encouragement using the metaphor of running a race. The example of the extreme endurance race of the Moab 240 as a metaphor for life where aid stations and pacers are essential to a runner’s success. The church is an aid station with believers as the pacers that can provide support to those in need. All believers are called to see and help hurting people, serving “the least of these” as Jesus said to do. We are called to help the most vulnerable around us, including the unborn. The church is a house of refuge because God is our unwavering refuge, an ever present help in times of trouble.
Made to Worship will focus on how humans are hardwired to worship. We should worship God, but often we worship idols. This series examine our desire to worship God, while also considering how we fall into idol worship.
It’s Not Personal is about how we hear “a personal relationship with Jesus” and sometimes this is misinterpreted to mean something that’s so personal that we keep our faith to ourselves. We will explore topics like mentoring, legacy, parenting, hobbies, sports, workplace, community, witnessing, evangelism, different areas and ways that we share our faith.
This week Pastor Marcus Burget discusses the importance of joining and committing to your local church and building a sense of community. While the topic of church membership is not clearly explained in the Bible, it is an essential component of the Christian life and important for spiritual growth. There is common linear sequence of events displayed in scripture. Someone hears the good news, the gospel, believes it placing their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Then, they're baptized and they join in as part of the community. Church members demonstrate commitment to a community by contributing to their group. Every member is called to attend, serve, give and share their time, talents and resources to help others find, build and share a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ.
This series looks at each of the five Solas (“onlys” or “alones”) drawn from theology revived in the era of the Reformation: Sola Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria. The series will define them and show how they work themselves out in our doctrine and lives. By thinking about the Bible, grace, faith, Christ, and God’s Glory, we are better able to understand God’s gift to the world and how to live as we follow Him.
This sermon will focus on the love of God and the “why” of Easter. Jesus saved you because God loves you.
In this series of Ephesians, Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus is divided into six chapters of life-changing truth. Those six chapters are divided into two equal parts. The first three chapters are all about what God in Christ has done for us. The last three are all about how we respond as believers to God’s great gift. Starting with Paul’s description of God’s salvation plan from the foundation of the world and leading all the way to the armor of God, there is great wisdom throughout this letter.
